Well done!

Good job to all those in the choir. It was a great concert, and a wonderful quarter. For those who are moving on, I wish you the best of luck in all you do and I hope you keep singing. For those who are returning I look forward to keeping up the great standard we set this quarter!
Don't forget we have our party at Ann's house on Thursday June 11th. If you need directions, email me.

Visit PLU, choir exchange

The choir directors at PLU are willing to have us come sit in on one of their rehearsals, and have the directors work with you. Two directors have offered to do this, one being Richard Nance who is the director of choral activities, and the president of the Northwest region of the American Choral Director's association (among many accolades), and a prominent composer.

To meet with them we would need to go to PLU on a weekday other than Friday and be there in the late afternoon. Their choirs rehearse from 3:40 to 5:10 pm.
Choir members please respond to the poll on the left concerning your availability.

Note Learning

Here is a link to a website that will play your part for the Kyrie of the Haydn Mass we are doing:

http://www.cyberbass.com/Major_Works/Haydn_J/haydn_lord_nelson.htm

This one plays the accompaniment softly and your part loudly.
Here is another site:

http://www.rfms.org/Archive/ArchHaydNelson.htm

This one plays the other choir parts softly and your part loudly - but no accompaniment.
Use whichever works best for you!

Spring Quarter Concert?

The choir is off and running for spring and it looks like it will be a great choir.
We don't have a venue for our concert yet.
June 5th is on the syllabus for the concert, but The dates we are looking at as possibilities include:
May 29th (Friday evening)?
June 5th (Friday evening)?
the date may ultimately depend on when we can find a space to perform in.

Places where we are checking for availability include:
The Liberty Theater?

Christ Episcopal Church?
210 5th St SW, Puyallup

Rogers High School auditorium?

Pierce College College center building?

Other ideas?

Choir members, please comment your preference and why on this blog.

Singing with a Cause

The Pierce College Puyallup choirs are preparing for a benefit concert in March.
We hope to raise money to help a local family whose infant recently had a heart transplant.
Details are still in the works, but this is what is set so far:

Concert:
Day - March 14th (Saturday)
Time - 3:00 pm
Place - Pierce College Puyallup College Center
Performing - The Pierce college Puyallup choirs and orchestra

The Saturday afternoon time is to accommodate a family based audience. Since the benefit is for a family and a child, we are singing a program that follows a family theme. Children are welcome at the concert and we hope they have some fun with us!
